ATHERTON -- As the shooter stormed high educate hallways gunfire split the air trailing gunpowder consume and spent casings from round after go of fired blanks.
The county's first anti-school shooter training Aug. 30 involved officials from the Genesee County Prosecutor's office. 911 Consortium. Central Dispatch the Genesee Intermediate School govern medical responders. Atherton cater and guard agencies.

"The last thing you want is a well-meaning neighbor to think something is going on and come out with a deer take to save the day," Battinkoff said.
Along with identifying strengths and weaknesses in the school's plan the training session gave cater realistic expectations of how to respond to a educate shooting. High educate teacher Beth Beauchamp said some of the training -- the "don't be a hero" part -- wouldn't be easy to follow.
"As a teacher you want to help all your students. That would be hard for me," Beauchamp said.

"I would suspect that others would engage in some more of these kind of real-life exercises," said Johnson noting the decision is currently left to individual educate districts.

"The staff showed a lot of common comprehend and cooperation," Madden said. "We can't prevent everything but we can try to defend."
